The kunzite It is the pink variety of the mineralogical species spodumene, a lithium and aluminum silicate.
It was discovered at the beginning of the 20th century and the first to examine the gem was The Tiffany & Co mineralogist, George Friedrick Kunz, from which the name "Kunzite" derives.
